marlin Brando and his hoodie

Posted on February 24, 2019February 27, 2019 by szmoon

Marlin never really did this before, but after I began my new job he started scratching at the doors in our apartment during the early hours of the morning (this includes the wall mirror, which has a frame similar to the doors).

I think after getting used to me being at home most days from October through January, he had less reason to stay awake during the day while we left for work. So he saved up his energy for night scratching things.

Last week we put Marlin’s hoodie on him for fun, and I noticed he became far more chill while wearing it. He just stayed with me on the dining table while I practiced coding, and didn’t do much aside from change positions. By the time we were going to bed, we decided to keep the hoodie on him because we worried his energy would come back after relaxing for a couple of hours.

And that night he didn’t night scratch! We tried it again the next night, and same result. I think it’s a similar concept to something called a “thunder shirt” for calming pets. Now we’re putting it on him every night until it gets warmer, in hopes that it will train him to sleep through the night by the time summer comes.

But anyway, please enjoy these ridiculous photos of Marlin in his hoodie. He honestly doesn’t mind wearing it, although the photos of him with the hood on make it look like he might haha.
