Aside from the faerie costume and a test ogden cami dress I made recently, I haven’t really sewn for fun for the better part of a year.
I learned about the instagram challenge/account @sewvintageseptember through a post by Martha Moore Porter on instagram (her creations and attitude toward sewing are so inspiring by the way). For some magical reason, the september challenge really motivated me in a way I haven’t felt for awhile. I finally finished updating my catalogue of sewing patterns in evernote so that I could easily find the perfect pattern, and landed on these shorts from McCall’s 9519. Sidenote: As much as I love an excuse to buy more patterns, I was using this opportunity to force myself to use what I’ve already got haha.
I also wanted to use an existing fabric from my stash (/horde), so I went with this lovely Rose Viscose Linen Noil from Blackbird Fabrics. My overall aim in choosing the pattern and fabric was to make something that would be comfortable to work from home in, but also make me feel cute. ♡ The final result is pretty much all that and more – it’s so swishy!
I made the View C shorts in Size 14, and the only alterations I made were shortening the hems a bit for my super short legs (but not too short so that I could reasonable wear these to the office in the future, maybe with a pair of tights), and tacking down the elastic on both side seams to help prevent it from twisting . ♡
