punch needle kit

Posted on August 30, 2022October 16, 2022 by szmoon

Over a year ago I got really into the idea of trying out punch needle as a hobby, but somehow managed to stop myself from diving in by telling myself I shouldn’t start any new hobbies. This summer however, I realized (through a new personal Notion organizational system) that almost all of my post-covid projects were in the fiber arts category. This makes a lot of sense, because crocheting and working with yarn takes a lot less effort (both physically and mentally) than things like sewing, and is a lot easier to start and stop without much setup or clean up. Soo, I used that discovery as an excuse to finally try out punch needling hahah.

I browsed etsy a tiny bit, but ended up getting the same kit I had my eye on last year – this lovely Summer Floral Pattern Kit by PunchyStuff (I paired it with this adjustable punch needle in their shop). 🌸 The color combo just makes me so happy!

The instructions + short youtube video were nice and clear, and once I got the stems and first flower done, I found it easy to work on the rest while watching the Great British Sewing Bee.

The instructions say that you don’t need to glue the back to secure the yarn, but I ended up doing so anyway just to make sure it doesn’t get messed up when we pack up and move. ♡

Can’t wait to find the perfect place to hang it up!
