A couple of months ago Sarah showed me how to hand-build with clay, and then she took me to her studio and showed me how to throw on a wheel. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about pottery ever since. 😂
I got a tiny wheel to practice on at home, and also signed up for a studio wheel class that starts tomorrow. I wasn’t originally planning on getting into pottery as a hobby until we moved to a place with more space, but I have no regrets and am so excited to explore all the possibilities! ♡

There was a pretty big learning curve for me trying to figure out how to work with the mini wheel. It’s not super powerful, so it stops spinning if you apply too much pressure (this makes centering the traditional way really difficult). After a bunch of tries though, I managed to figure out some tricks to working with it.
Here’s a tiny cylinder made on the mid-sized wheel that came with the set:

Below were my first successful mini thrown pieces – pretty bottom heavy, but intact! 😂

These pieces were made before I got tiny trimming tools:

I did cut tests with cylinders to see how even I was making the walls – the one on the left was the earliest, and the one on the right the latest (I was too happy with that one to actually cut it hahah).
