first time wheel throwing

Posted on June 12, 2022August 2, 2022 by szmoon

Sarah used her friends and family pass to bring me to her studio for day, and taught me how to throw on a wheel, trim and glaze!

My first thrown piece!!

These were the other 3 pieces I threw – I accidentally pressed through the clay to the board for one of them, so Sarah helped (a lot) and we turned it into a donut haha. 🍩

While waiting for the first pot to dry enough for trimming, I got to watch Sarah work on some of her other pieces, and chat with the other members in the studio. This group of salt frogs got mouths and eyeballs:

And here’s my first thrown bowl, after trimming! Sarah’s studio kindly offered me use of her alphabet stamp to personalize it, so I stamped what I thought said “BOO” in the bottom of my bowl. Turns out I accidentally used the “Q” so it actually says “BQQ” hahah.

Sarah was an amazing teacher and I had so much fun!! I can safely say that I’m now in love with pottery. 😂
