Last summer when I visited Illinois, my dad and I traded lasercutting materials. I gave him heat transfer vinyl in a bunch of colors, and he gave me some silver and gold foil, as well as a sheet of natural rubber. I only recently figured out the perfect idea to make with the rubber – stamps for my friend Sarah’s business, Waldo Pottery.
I thought the stamps could come in handy with decorating packing materials and note cards hehe. 🐸
First, I designed the files. I drew the frog based off of Sarah’s famous frog salt cellars, and the logo using the font from her website. I made two versions of the frog because I couldn’t decide which text was better – my initial instinct was to try and fit the text to the frog’s mouth, but I wasn’t as much a fan as I thought I’d be, so I made the unstretched one as well.
Below you can see the files I used for engraving – the mirrored text with inverted colors were used to engrave the rubber, and the non-mirrored images were used to engrave the wood.

Engraving/cutting the rubber with the glowforge:

Engraving settings (with two different Lines per Inch, shown in the image below):
- Speed: 310
- Power 85
- 1 pass
- Lines per Inch: 270 (right) 450 (left)
Cut settings:
- Speed: 180
- Power: full power
- 1 pass

Here are all the wood and rubber pieces cut out, still masked (I used 2 1/4″ pieces of wood for each stamp):

Then I applied shellac to the engraved wood for each stamp:

And here are the pieces before gluing. 🙂

I used e6000 to attach the pieces, and weighted them down with this very professional setup.

The stamps work! 🎉

Ias super happy to find a cute use for my leftover crochet yarn haha~

And finally, here are some photos of Sarah’s that I stole haha:
