mahjong nullbits scramble board

Posted on January 24, 2022January 28, 2022 by szmoon

Super excited to show off my first ever keyboard case!🎉I’ve been really intimidated by the idea of building a custom case, so I’m glad I found this open source scramble-case by dayofdoom to help me get familiar with the layers and hardware involved.

Many thanks to Hugh for recommending the nullbits scramble as a great starter board. As soon as I got it, I couldn’t get the idea of a bamboo mahjong tile out of my head (I know technically the “6” piece is 3 columns of 2, but this was close enough haha). I went through a few iterations to get the keys as bamboo-like as possible, and finally landed at cutting out acrylic shapes and embedding them in the UV resin.

I’ve uploaded the altered files to my fork on github – it includes info about the changes made and hardware difference (I used M2x15mm standoffs instead of 9mm), but overall still works with the original build guide that dayofdoom created.

Process photos below. 🙂
